Parent Coaching & Support Seattle
“I don’t always know how to handle my child or teen’s emotional needs.”
“ I find it hard to enjoy time with my kids because just keeping up with their sports, meals, and bedtimes feels like all I can manage each day."
“I am watching my child’s world become smaller and smaller because of their fear. They don’t want to be apart from me, have fun with other kids, or explore new things anymore.”
At Juneberry, we are here to support you or your loved ones in navigating difficult feelings and find your strength in the face of adversity.
What to Expect from your Sessions
I offer parent coaching both as a regular part of my child therapy services and as a stand-alone option for caregivers seeking skills, support, and perspective in one of life’s most meaningful—and demanding—roles.
If your child is enrolled in therapy at Juneberry, parent coaching sessions will vary in frequency depending on your availability, your family’s goals, and your child’s age. If you’re seeking parent coaching on its own, we’ll determine a meeting schedule together based on the level of support that feels right for you.
Parent coaching sessions are designed to center your experience as a caregiver. This may include exploring parenting strategies, but also extends to topics like self-care, navigating work stress, or understanding how your own upbringing may be influencing your parenting. Whether it's carving out time for rest, reconnecting with your partner, or simply feeling more grounded day-to-day, these sessions are here to support you, too.
When caregivers feel supported, kids benefit—and meaningful change becomes possible for the whole family.
Modalities
I use the following evidence-based therapeutic approaches to help caregivers and families reach their goals. These techniques are grounded in a client-centered framework and are enhanced by strategies such as authentic praise to motivate and acknowledge your hard-earned progress.
Incredible Years (IY) strengthens families by focusing first and foremost on nurturing positive parent-child relationships. Its techniques promote strong connections through quality time together and active listening among family members. IY also highlights the value of reinforcement—such as genuine praise, small rewards, and natural consequences—to encourage positive behaviors and support families in reaching their goals.
Supportive Parenting for Anxious Childhood Emotions (SPACE) is a parent-based treatment that empowers caregivers to support their child through anxiety without unintentionally reinforcing fear-based patterns. Childhood anxiety can lead to rigid routines, challenging school drop-offs, and prolonged bedtimes—and often leaves parents feeling stuck and overwhelmed. SPACE helps parents understand the nature of childhood anxiety and provides practical tools for responding with confidence and clarity. Together, we create a personalized plan for gradually setting gentle, supportive limits—helping children build resilience and discover just how brave they can be!
